Grade 8: Students are currently writing the first drafts of their term papers. Typed drafts will be due Friday, February 24. As you recall from the information that came home at the beginning of the project, that draft will be evaluated in a one-on-one conference with me. Final drafts will be due one week from the day of this conference. Please help me to encourage quality work on this project as it will constitute approximately two-thirds of the third quarter language arts grade.
Just a reminder that I will be glad to help with editing and revising any Hibernian scholarship essays. The deadline for application will need to be Friday, April 13 as students are leaving for the class trip on the 16th.
Grade 7: Students are currently studying the best way to combine simple sentences into compound and complex ones and then correctly punctuating these kinds of sentences.
Grade 6: Students are currently studying correct usage of subject and verb agreement.
All groups: We are on Sitton Unit 14. Assessments will be Thursday, February 23.
On Monday and Tuesday we will be blocked into 90 minute classes to do an ISTEP practice essay. That amount of time will allow us to practice using the time limits of the actual test. We will then talk about the experience and evaluate the results. Hopefully this will help the students to be more comfortable with the actual test.

** Grade 8 -- After Christmas break, Mr. Bridge, a librarian with the Indianapolis/Marion County Public Library system, will meet with eighth graders to discuss with them and give them an opportunity to explore the resources available to them on-line, as they prepare to do research for their term papers. It is important that every eighth grader have a library card. Christmas break would be a good time to take care of that.
** Please encourage your children to support our Advent service project, providing school uniforms for our twinning parish in Honduras. In Honduras students must have these uniforms to attend school, so we are providing much more that clothing: we are providing access to education. This is our only service project for Advent this year, and we encourage each student to show generosity as he or she is able.
May our hearts be light as we move toward the remembrance of our Savior's birth,

Very Brief Blog
Our server is being shut down and will not return until Monday, so two important reminders:
At this morning's Veterans' Day program, Mrs. Parsons gave each student an assignment to contact a family member or friend, who is or has been in a branch of the armed services, to thank him or her for protecting our country. Students who know no service members were asked to pray a Hail Mary for those who are serving.
8 gold students have their descriptive essays and everything used in preparing them due Monday. This is a very important assignment.
Have a good weekend.
